USMCA: A Framework for Regional Success
The USMCA, which replaced NAFTA in 2020, has modernized key aspects of trade, addressing areas such as digital commerce, environmental standards, and labor rights.
The agreement has provided greater opportunities in manufacturing, agriculture, and services for Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Industries like automotive manufacturing have particularly benefited, with exports continuing to drive economic growth. Sheinbaum pointed out that Mexico’s skilled workforce and strategic location make it a vital player in North American trade.
She also emphasized the importance of collaboration with the United States and Canada to address regional challenges such as supply chain disruptions and the energy transition, ensuring the agreement remains effective in a constantly evolving global economy.
